Just making conversation. Thought other people might like to talk about it.
I have not, but a coworker at a previous firm did.
I think I should ask him how it happened.

I have in a past role. But, in the end, I was laid off after getting a promotion a few years in. It did work but I was the first to go when layoffs came around. I am grateful for experiencing that now I know what to look for if it happens again.
I was laid off almost a year ago. A few months later, my ex-supervisor asked me if I would like to go back, so they invited me to reapply. I did. That happened on February 26, and I'm still watching posts offering the position I had on every single job platform there is, and the job hasn't been filled yet. They know (management), I would go back, even with the salary they are offering now, everything is negotiable. I was laid off due to a brutal budget cut from one of our main clients at the time, not because of my performance or attitude towards my job: I loved my job. I've applied to almost 100 jobs, I've been interviewed by AI (which was one of the most discouraging and dreadful experiences in my long professional career), I've signed NDAs, I've networked, I've been taking courses and seminars to perfect my craft... I've done everything and more! They may call you back, but don't hold your breath or change any plans: keep on going and don't wait for anybody. Good luck!!

It didn’t work this time.
