Yes, my partner and I went through this recently, and it really turned our world upside down at first. What’s helped us most is sticking to a daily routine.. getting up at the same time, taking walks together, and carving out time for job searching while also allowing ourselves guilt-free breaks. We’ve cut back on non-essentials, found new ways to enjoy time for free (like home cooking or library books), and leaned on friends and family for support, even if just to talk. Some days are still tough, but having small goals and celebrating little wins like landing an interview or learning a new skill
If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry! Fortunately, my partner has since found a job, but it was almost 2 months of both of us being unemployed. I got laid off, and then he got the news about 2 weeks later. All that time in between, I was so thankful he still had a job. I thought he was making a terrible joke when he told me. But that’s life, and you do figure it out as you go.
My husband and I worked at the same hotel and we both got laid off at the exact same time when they decided to close their doors. So we are both looking for jobs right now, and it sucks. Thankfully we had a decent amount of savings, but it's hard when we are both struggling with the job search at the same time. It's hard to keep each other positive when neither of us feel that way.
