Just roll with it. Don’t try to be selective on the tent or aim for anything in particular just grab a seat when you see one.
If you feel like raging, go with a radler every second beer to stretch it out a little. Our fragile American constitutions can’t handle that much chemical free strong beer.
You may be tempted by the cheap, full “traditional outfits” at the tourist traps by the station and on the way to the Wies’n - go for it, but just know that you just be dressing up like a tourist and the Germans know.
The bathroom situation is pretty awful.
I represented our country well, only falling off the table once and holding it against my German friends
I stayed at the Koenigshof Marriott last year and it was excellent. I had a fantastic meal at Zum Alten Markt and had fun shopping for home goods in Radspieler. Octoberfest is fun but it’s just a carnival/fair. The city of Munich is surprisingly delightful as is the Bavarian countryside/alps.

You need to line up before they open the tents to get a table. Once you find a spot you’re pretty much there for the day. Buy a lederhosen. Bring cash and tip every time you get a beer. Go to the restroom before you have to pee, lines are long. Do the high swing ride… if you’re not too drunk.
You can rent at places all around Bavaria
