I had a first interview last Tuesday with Amazon, which I think went well, although I still haven't heard back 6 days later and then got an OOO annual leave msg and a no response when I chased up the named colleague today. Is this typical behaviour others have experienced when dealing with the big tech company recruiters? I found Google and Facebook recruiters to be efficient and TikTok so-so, if not a little slow, but 6 days+ seems poor.

With product design questions, I struggle to identify user groups. Once I do everything starts flowing and I’m confident. But the initial identification of user groups is something I find challenging. What’s your go-to way of doing this? For example, the question “design a podcasting app for truck drivers.” What types of truck drivers can I select so that I can prioritize a user group to focus on and begin identification of pain points and solutions?

Billables are low this month. Like I have 65 billable hours in so far. I’ve messaged partners over the last week to try and get more cases but there are tons of new associates who were just onboarded and were at a low point for business. I’m freaking out

I have a promising interview at a relatively large law firm in my area (+100 attorneys) next week. The position is for a transactional role in their real estate practice group, and they are seeking someone with at least 2 YOE. I have a bit over 7 YOE with a strong real estate/commercial lit. background. Over the past two years in my current position, I've been doing a lot more transactional work. The split is around 50% transactional and 50% lit.

How many billable hours per week is considered at capacity? I’m getting pushback on boundaries I’m setting about additional matters and marketing work from my firm when I’ve been billing 60-75 hours per week for the last 6 weeks, and I’m still behind on my work. I feel like it’s reasonable to not kill myself further to fit in more/turn things around faster at this point, but am I being unreasonable? I expect my workload to remain at this level through the end of the year at least.

LuckeYou in NYC. They talked me into accepting 3/4 my hourly rate. Dragged their feet about "letting" me invoice bc client killed the project. THEN took nearly FOUR to pay me...

Anyone every have an issue with an agency paying you an hourly, and not being upfront about the hours prospected per day... until your last day, and then have an issue when the invoice is sent in?

I’d list the last agency that didn’t pay me but they actually closed up shortly after. Sadly the content I wrote is on their client’s site - but it’s not the client’s fault the agency didn’t pay me.

Watch out for Publicis—specifically Digitas. After a few weeks there, and a couple of quiet days (client is taking their time w/comments, etc) I was told that even though I was booked for that short week, I was only going to get paid for time actually worked—the 3 daily status meetings. Yes, that’s correct. 24 hours waiting patiently for the client comments and they’re paying me for 3 hours.

So was my check mysteriously lost in the mail or does it take 6-7 days to get from one part of Brooklyn to another?! On a check that was already late
