Why do firms fire people with low but still profitable hours? I am in my first full year on track for pretty low hours (~1500) but the actual realized fees (after writedowns) are still double my yearly salary. Is it because firms know they could replace someone like me with an equivalent attorney who would bill more?

Project ends soon, looking to switch over to Accenture, Strategy& etc. Anyone have any opportunities? Actually looking to travel for work for a little bit

Watch out for Publicis—specifically Digitas. After a few weeks there, and a couple of quiet days (client is taking their time w/comments, etc) I was told that even though I was booked for that short week, I was only going to get paid for time actually worked—the 3 daily status meetings. Yes, that’s correct. 24 hours waiting patiently for the client comments and they’re paying me for 3 hours.

Got a non-paying client we need to avoid? We’ve all had clients who don’t pay their bills. Feel free to list them by name, how much they owe and how long they’re past due. It’s anonymous, after all!

I’d list the last agency that didn’t pay me but they actually closed up shortly after. Sadly the content I wrote is on their client’s site - but it’s not the client’s fault the agency didn’t pay me.

Ethical question: if you presented an idea to one agency for a certain client but the idea went nowhere (only the cd saw it) is it ethical / permitted to re-present the same idea for another agency and another client?
