Razorfish Health pulling the same nonsense.
Yes, same for me at Razorfish health. Had to fight to get paid. When they wanted me for 20 hours per week I offered to work 4hrs/ day in the morning to 2.5 days. Said I could be flexible and adjust on a weekly basis. But they weren’t interested, obviously. They wanted me sitting in front of the computer for 40 hours ready to jump on anything at a moments notice, but only pay for 20. Kind of sleazy.
Well leave them in a lurch then - those conditions should apply only to 1099. I’m guessing you are a W2 temp - they need to allow you to work for other clients in downtime to make up the shortfall. Now, probably signed a contract with the same protective covenant as for full timers that would prohibit that, but it can’t practically be enforced for a temp.
Bottom line, you need to establish one of 4 agreements up front: 1. Pay you for retention time 2. Allow you to work for other clients 3. Double/triple your rate 4. Have a strict agreement about agreed paid hours (say minimum 5 a day).
Ie no being retained without pay
That’s horrible. I had a somewhat similar experience with Razorfish health. After telling me they wanted to cut my hours to 20/wk, I agreed and tried to establish what hours and days they wanted, but no surprise, they wanted 40+ hours of my time but wanted to pay for 20 or LESS
