More the messenger than the villain. Most decisions that negatively impact my team come from above and my hands are tied. The one I really hate enforcing is PTO blackouts during November and December. Wish we could all stay at home with our families during the holidays, but that just isn't possible here.

Totally get that. It’s tough being the one who has to deliver those decisions, especially when you don’t agree with them. The holiday blackouts are the worst, I wish companies were more flexible about that too.
Unless what you did was something wholly unethical, and it doesn't sound like that's the case, you didn't really betray anyone. Sometimes the work just has to include things that are difficult. It happens! I've had to do things I wasn't happy about, but if it was the right decision in terms of business, I could live with it.

Yeah, that makes sense. Definitely wasn’t unethical, just a tough call. Appreciate the perspective!
I once had to participate in a meeting about choosing a right supervisor and I voted against a person who was working with us and management did not let that person take that position. I felt like a villain too but later I figured it was the right decision.
