Growth mindset is one that rubs me the wrong way for some reason. In my opinion, it's a given that people want to be inspired and will do what it takes to succeed.

Oh yes! That one is used so often. I wonder if some of these terms should at least have royalties for the individual who coined them.
It's not really a teaching term, more of a business buzzword, but I've developed a real aversion to the phrase double down. I've had to sit in meetings where I'd hear about how we were going to double down on this or that. It usually means that something which is failing is now going to be doubled down on. Great, now it will just keep failing all the more. As soon as I hear double down I know there's trouble.

For sure. It seems like we never do enough, we don't use strategies, we don't have high enough expectations, we never do enough...there's really not any umph left in me to double down

I actually really like the growth mindset! Feels like it is more meaningful for the younger kiddos though. The power of yet and all that. For me, it is remembering your why. Which we’ve all probably heard more times than we care for. Originally it did help me stay motivated, now it is something filled with desperation.
