Some use the same email script and just change companies and names. Always check for:
1. Non-company emails.
2. Offering money for equipment.
3. Asking for money.
4. Prompt emails (easily Googled).
5. Too good to be true salary/pay.
6. Names that don't match the company they are advertising.
7. Even if they DO match, always double check company open positions and pay on their website.
8. Jobs/companies you didn't apply for (commonly mystery shoppers, customer service, data entry).
9. Check Reddit for every job response you get, people usually pretty helpful in pointing out scams.
10. Trust your gut. If it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't.
Scams are more common than callbacks these days. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips this is a thorough checklist!
Tons of them. I think everyone has gotten at least one of these via SMS. That channel - instead of email - is a dead giveaway in itself. So is a "company" offering you a job or interview without you applying first, promises of WFH flexibility, and anything that requires PII before the offer is signed or asks you to deposit a check to use to purchase home office equipment.

Yea definitely, I’ve never tried replying to those but I often wonder how they got my info in the first place. Sometime I swear switching my LinkedIn to ‘looking for work’ is what triggered it…
There's a lot of them! I'm super careful where I send my résumé these days. I ateended full interviews that turned out to be complete scams. I just look for anything that looks suspicious or fishy, and do a lot of research on the companies.
Yes there are SO many scams right now. Bottom line if something feels off, it probably is. Don't give out any personal info until you have verified the company to make sure they are real.
Oh, it’s getting more and more difficult to tell What’s a real job posted and what’s fake. One thing you can look at is how long the jobs been posted. If it’s been up for months that it’s probably a fake listing.
