I actually am proud. I think the work we do is important. I have teachers who shaped my life, and I hope to do the same for someone else someday.
You have impacted so many. You may never hear it, but know it in your heart.
I really have not thought about this since I started in the profession. I have become so overwhelmed with the state of the world and these kids that I don't ever even stop to think if i'm proud of my career. Maybe it's burnout, maybe it's because no one else really is?
I don't really do the job for accolades or the approval of others. I do it because I'm passionate about educating young adults and making a difference in the world around me. That said, I suppose what I've accomplished thus far does bring me a sense of pride.
45 years in…just to make that difference in someone’s life like some special teachers were for me. So proud!
Yes, when I can point to kids getting their PhDs, researching diseases with the hope of a cure, working in international software, working as a welder, using the skills I helped teach them to be a productive member of society, yes. Dang right, I’m proud!

I’m retired now for almost two years. I retired at the end of 2022. A couple years before leaving during the full Covid years, I wasn’t proud to be a teacher. I didn’t feel like I had as much of an impact. When they started to come back to the classroom, I felt like I was in my element again. It felt good and I realized I was always proud to be a teacher.
I retired after 27 years of service as a 6th grade ELA teacher. Up until COVID, I loved and was proud to be the kind of teacher that students enjoyed having. I made them work hard, but they pushed through with fun projects, class discussions, and great novels. More importantly, my students knew I cared about them as a person. They trusted me and I was there for them if they ever needed anything. I felt like I had an impact on their lives. When I see them out, they parrot back many of the phrases I used on a daily basis. I just found out that my mail lady was a former student. She’s now 28 and still remembers the fun she had in my class. I keep in touch with many of them.
The day I left the building for the last time, I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders. I retired for many, many reasons, but it was not to get away from my kids. They were always the best part of my job. ❤️❤️
I know what you mean. I'm an art teacher and everyone, even my colleagues, belittle what I do. Art is a great outlet of emotion for everyone but especially young adults and children.

I am proud. I know I have made a significant impact on the lives of many students. I’m not sure for how long I can keep doing this, but I’m proud of the years I have spent teaching.
Absolutely! I am so proud of everything that I am doing with my students. I have an enriching life and career. I know that people belittle the teaching profession, but we are responsible for molding the future.
I am proud of what I do (level 2&3 special ed), especially after a lesson or unit goes really well. I continue to try to improve what I do. I am in my 12th year and still love my job.
I am very proud of being a teacher. However, I have had a lot of negativity from my brother who thinks that gay people should not be teachers.
Thank you. I needed to hear that tonight.
