At 3YOE all at my first PM gig, CRM and fundraising software for nonprofits, I’m interested in the thought of doing the same thing for fintech or another industry. However, in the last two years of casual job hunting, my only 1st interview was with a company with similar products serving nonprofits.

Are most companies hiring PMs only interested in candidates with established domain knowledge in their industry? How long a shot would it be for me to make a move to, say, fintech?

How many hours are you all , on average, working in a day?

A colleague told me today that Google separates Product Manager and Product Owner as two separate roles. I believe that one PM role is preferred in the industry and most modern software companies, especially FAANG companies, only have PMs. Just curious what others have experienced and if I'm correct in my assumption.

Which companies have PM roles that are more strategy focused than PO focused (e.g., focusing on overall product strategy and not leading a Dev team to deliver specific product features)?

With product design questions, I struggle to identify user groups. Once I do everything starts flowing and I’m confident. But the initial identification of user groups is something I find challenging. What’s your go-to way of doing this? For example, the question “design a podcasting app for truck drivers.” What types of truck drivers can I select so that I can prioritize a user group to focus on and begin identification of pain points and solutions?
