Never. It just changes who you talk to and how prioritize. It may not be part of your regular status. But there should always be someone you are communicating with. They may put a burden that feels unsustainable but at some point if mistakes are happening and it’s impacting client delivery and success someone will help. (They won’t always help if it’s burnout- good ones will).
You should be expected to manage your own workload since being a junior (unless you’re brand new to office work). Having a manager that advocates for you is great but you CAN push back on asks and deadlines yourself. You can say “I can deliver X by Y but expect Z to happen”. My manager roughly knows what is on my plate since I communicate it during our check-ins but doesn’t always know details or other things I raise my hand for across the agency. There will always be some weeks with 60-70 hours. And other weeks with less. But that has always been on myself to manage.

Your manager’s job is literally in their title: they are managing you. It’s part of your responsibility as an individual contributor to keep them in the loop regarding your workload. They may have insight into other members of the team who are currently underutilized able to jump in to help. Sometimes there isn’t a resource available and you have to work overtime but if you’re chronically burning the midnight oil then it’s fair to ask for their help prioritizing.
