Never heard that job hopping is harmful. No one says you need to quit your job before you find a new one.
SA1 I got 100k for S1 in AWM SALT four years ago with 2 YOE in NYC
Honestly, I get where you're coming from, it can really feel like you're stuck in a rut when you’re hovering in the same salary range for years. For me, I hit the $100K mark around year 8 of my career, but it wasn’t just time that got me there. The biggest shift came when I started specializing. I moved into a niche area of accounting (tax strategy) and got certifications... CPA and later a CFE. Those credentials opened doors to higher-paying roles.
Just before I hit 4 years
I hit 100k after working for a big4 for 5 years. I didn’t get promoted to manager, so maybe it could’ve been more if I had been promoted. Shortly after the raise I talked to a recruiter and he found me a job in private accounting that paid the same. I have my CPA. Do you have yours? That could be the difference.
Year 5 after leaving public accounting with my CPA license
I think when I got promoted to senior associate. So 3 years in maybe?
4 years.
Don't he afraid to job hop. That's the best way to get a good raise. And getting your CPA license will help the most in terms of overall growth in your career. It took me 4 years but I got my masters degree and CPA license before I had any experience and then went into audit at PwC. Then switched to industry after 3-4 years to get a salary bump from 100K to 115K + 10% annual bonus.
