I liked the newest hotel Swan Reserve, it’s a Marriott. It’s more adult oriented but it’s on the property with the other 2 Marriotts and the kids pool is right in front of this hotel, and you can use all the facilities.
Don’t count on destination hotels to honor your status, they are often booked. But the rooms were pretty spacious, and modern. The other Marriott properties are older, and it shows.
At this point your kid is no longer free. 1 day tickets are expensive. The other thing to look at is what are the Magic Kingdom hours are for the day you are looking at going. Starting in August going all the way through the end of the year there are private ticketed events at the Magic Kingdom that close the park at 6 PM. That is really cutting into park time if you were only going for one day. Disney is on a big money grab with either Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) occurring multiple times a week. if you do decide to stay on property then realize that on site guests only get 30 minutes of early magic hours and guests of the deluxe resorts get evening magic hours on a few select nights a week so if you aren’t going to be there on a day when you get evening magic hours then it may not be worth the price to stay on Disney property. Regardless of what you decide plan to put $$$ money towards the trip.
Not true. Party guests are allowed in at 4pm but park actually closes at 6pm with official party activities starting at 7pm. Nonparty guests cannot get on rides after 6pm without a party wristband. There are cast members at the front of each land and will not allow non party guests beyond the hub at 6pm so they eventually filter out the non party guests from the lands. They are then only allowed on Main Street but even then they start herding people out.
I live in Miami and we go quite often to the parks with my 5 and 1-year-old. They will be done in 4-5 hours and then it will be about where you and your couple want to go. If you want convenience and a quick trip to the hotel, then a Disney hotel is the way to go..otherwise, Marriott will be always a great option.
