I am the only developer in my team and my manager has assigned me a project in which I need to create a tool from scratch although that is currently running in production build by third party and we don't have access to that code.

I am on notice period and I am 100% sure that project won't be completed before my LWD.

What should I do, I asked him to put some extra team members but he didn't agree, seems like he will add extra team members 2-3 weeks before my LWD.

What do you do with Sr Managers who literally talk useless for 20 mins? The inefficiency makes me want to stab my eyeball out. She just completely rambles and obviously hasn’t checked slides

Tales of boredom: I’ve taken to replicating Lebron’s chalk toss at home except instead of chalk I’m using cat food. My cats seem to enjoy this and I figure I’m doing my part to prevent kitty obesity. I also figure this is why I’m presently sleeping on the couch.

At what point do you draw the line on WLB? Working insane hours on a long/term project with what feels like no end in sight. It’s not sustainable but clearly expected. Could you get fired for drawing lines in the sand and saying (example) “come 8:30 every night I’m logging off”. That’s a 65 hour work week as-is but I currently am up until midnight working consistently. For context I’ve been rated as a strong performer consistently and am not new to the job so it’s not a lack of understanding.

I am leaving consulting after 7~ years. 2+Y in my current firm.
The goods: Generally young talented people, global though leaders, international collaboration and a brand in my cv.
The bads: Distributed ownership with short-term vision in the business units, we would enage any project in any client as long as it counts for the partner. And we would use the margin as an input, not as a result, so we would be forced to understaff projects so numbers look good. Politics and promises that never came
