Don’t overthink it. The vast majority of consulting is no longer strategy work that fits into a case framework. Your phd taught you how to grind and how to think… that’s all you need
Pro
Join Exponent instead of MBB/Big 4, then transition to wherever you'd rather be in a few years. Exponent hires a ton of PhDs so it will be easier to get into a cohort that matches you, and get consulting experience to switch later.
I have not heard anything good about them. I am interested in a more generalist role. Also, I am an international student and wish to move out of the US asap and I think consulting is my way out. Finally, the exponent does only healthcare-related practice, right?

It is easy. Don’t let people make you overthink it. Focus on clear communication and not over-complicating the question they ask you - for folks like us, that’s the hardest part

Thanks for sharing and sounds like a strong plan. All the best OP!
