The book ban, or what used to be called “selecting appropriate books given a limited budget” is another 80/20 issue for Dems. Rather than agree on 80% of books that are relevant and riveting they push the 20% fringe ideologically captured quasi queer fan fiction. But sure - rage on and pick books that can’t even be read aloud at board meetings to adults due to indecency.

I love dragon stories, so I tried to read a book one of my 6th Graders had. It had a warning that there were some areas that may be explicit. I was shocked at the imagery of sexual content. I had to flip passed several pages, because i don't like to read that type of material
They are not banned, they just are not carried in that location. If they were banned you would not be able to get them anywhere! As a teacher, I would think you know the difference.
There a books that elementary and High school students should not have access to. If their parents want them to have it, then they can go to a bookstore or public library and get it.

I agree 100!
I totally agree—banning books is such an attack on critical thinking. Education should empower students to explore different perspectives, not limit them. It's great to see groups fighting for intellectual freedom. I really hope it gains momentum and pushes back against these bans nationwide.

I don't necessarily say ban books, but i believe they should only be made available in age and content areas
I think book bans are appalling, of course. And it's even going beyond books. Before a visit by the wife of the new defense secretary, schools for children of military members had posters of Harriet Tubman taken down off the walls. Who could believe that in 2025 the government would find images of Harriet Tubman dangerous or offensive? Really shows you what kind of people have come into power.

The sad things are parents throw a fit about the books but they let their Littles watch all kinds of stuff of "Kids" YouTube and TikTok
It's a tough situation, and I feel the same way. Education is all about encouraging critical thinking and open-mindedness, and books play such a huge role in that. I worry that if we start banning books, we're stifling curiosity and the ability for students to explore the world around them. It’s refreshing to see communities standing up for libraries and free access to information.

I just thing there should be more of carefulness about the explicit stuff that is available and easily accessible in elementary and Middle School

I don't agree with book banning, however I strongly advocate that books be agree appropriate. Many parents throw a fit if a teacher plays a movie rated PG or PG13, but we have books in the library that are grotesque and lewd.
Well here is the difference, if you are showing a movie to the whole class, each child is seeing that movie. If it is a book in the library the student is self selecting and knows what their tolerance level is for different subject matter.
Keeping pornography out of schools is not "book banning". Would you support "Hustler" or "Penthouse" being provided in a school library or classroom? Is it "book banning" to require it be kept out? Why is protecting children from adult content now called "book banning"? Should our schools become grooming centers.

Sadly from what I see and hear, some people wouldn't have a bit of problem with pornography being on the bookshelves in our schools
