Does anyone have any insights on what a typical Sr. Associate Director makes at Boehringer Ingelheim? I have a range of 170-180k which I think is fair but don’t want to be underpaid. Also, any information regarding retirement planning or medical/dental benefits would be helpful. Haven’t gotten much out of HR. Thanks in advance!

Used to be 100, now prob 120?
Umm, I think when I was a kid $50,000 a year was a great salary. I grew up in the early 90s and things have changed. And in this current economy, you are right $100,000 salary just won’t do it. I think you need to make 150,000 to 250,000 to be in a good place and feel successful.
I'm making just over $100k, the "made it" number is definitely higher than that. 25 years ago, a $100k salary was enough to live comfortably on. Now it's not enough to be able to own a home on your own in most states. $200k would probably be enough to feel like I've made it today, but thanks to inflation, that goalpost is always going to be moving.
Add another zero to your salary, and I still make more. The feeling never goes away. It doesn’t matter how much you make. Instead, you pile up money in investments and know that you can walk away whenever you want. It’s not quite the definition of success you think of in school but it’s the freedom and flexibility to do what you want.
Great point about the definition of success. Changed a lot for me over the years. Last year was the first year I crossed 6 figures (2 person income) and I felt better when I was making significantly less. Point is you have to set goals and work towards those, really doesn’t matter how big the number gets, the ‘feeling’ of success is abstract if you aren’t working towards something.
How much do you have saved? Your responsibilities have probably increased but you needed 10% (or what you can do over that amount) of salary going into an account that you do not have a card for, i.e. savings.
When your cash savings equals 2 years of rent, you'll get that "made it" feeling. Until then, save more and try to earn more. Just don't let your entire life be about earnings.
