Contract job or no-contract job?

Does anyone in the state of California have a similar issue/dilemma of whether to seek a contact/temporary job without health insurance benefits?

Since the state of CA. mandates that every person is required to have minimum health insurance coverage and without the coverage, that person is required to pay a $ penalty fee on their state income tax filing for each month without coverage. Also, the monthly health insurance costs through Covered CA. are expensive.

Everyone I needed final approvals from to get these expert retention agreements signed off has decided to ignore me on literally the day our disclosures are due.

What looks better for mba applications... management consulting or strategy consulting?
