I lived this life pre COVID. Left my house at 6 am everyday. Got in by 9:30. Typically stayed until 6 and wasn’t walking in to home until close to 9pm. Could not go back to this now.
Fully remote
Following because I’m thinking of doing the same.
The MetroNorth ends at Poughkeepsie, so you should be able to get on the train without it being too crowded in the morning, and it seems sort of chill. But a 4 hour commute 3x a week seems brutal to me, especially if you’re schlepping a work bag and have to stand for part of the trip on the way back.
If I moved out that far, I’d probably only come in once a week and maybe get a hotel for production stuff where i need to be in for 5 days in a row. You might want to look at options like Carmel, Brewster and Pawling which are a little closer on the train
I would try it out for a week or so before committing completely.
I don’t love driving and it seems like it would take longer than MetroNorth during rush hour, and you’d still have to pay parking and tolls. Wonder if you could drive to a closer station l, park there and just take the train into Manhattan or something
