St Thomas vs St John for snorkeling from the beach?
Any recommendations for these places - food, things to do, scuba diving tours / companies. My wife and I are planning on going for a week in mid-May.

STJ

There’s spots on STT, but I prefer STJ for that activity. I’ve done it on STX, too.

I’ve spent far more time on STT and eaten like everywhere. BUT, frankly I don’t know what still open after impacts to tourism from COVID.

Let’s start here: where are you staying?

like

You sure? I just checked and every Marriott property is showing availability in mid-May. It’s gonna be $600-$1250/night but that’s normal.

St John for sure!

like

STJ 😍

STT is more touristy. STX is the commercial hub but is very cute too!

like

Definitely STJ for snorkeling. I think the best snorkeling in STJ pre-hurricane was Waterlemon Cay.

like

STJ for sure! My personal favorite was Maho Bay. You can see sea turtles on the eastern side of the beach pretty close to shore and the spot on the west side has beautiful fish, and we even saw an octopus. Cinnamon Bay has its facilities under construction and Trunk Bay is too crowded, not as nice (visited March 2021)

Starting as an SM in S&A on the strategy side in the next few weeks. What does travel budget generally look like? I understand first class flights are a no go domestic which sucks, but hoping hotel and food budget makes up for it. Also, does Deloitte pay for platinum Amex or is that out of pocket?

Just got a “Sheraton Vacations” special offer to basically get 5 nights at a Florida property for $250.

I read the fine print and other than a need to be flexible in terms of when you book, it doesn’t seem like there is a catch.

Anyone familiar with this “promotion” and what the downside might be? Or are they just looking to drive revenue to their other areas (restaurants, spa, etc) with a cheap room?
