That's funny, it can feel like they're just taking back their money. Of course, we do keep some merchandise in the trade, so it's not that bad. There is a factor where being around things may make us want them, though I've noticed that it often goes the opposite with me. If I look at stuff all day I can resist possessing it myself.
I think it depends on the place you are working. To be honest, most retail jobs I feel like the discount is just a way for them to make sure employees’ paychecks are circulating back into the company. But sometimes an employee discount can make it worth it.

I always feel like the employee discount was a benefit for the company and not really for us really. We nearly don’t make that much and our money goes back right into their “hands”. But it also depends on what company you work for. Sometimes the discount is worth the spend.
