Is it just at my job or does anyone notice their account team never gets laid off? Not one person from our account team has been laid off during this pandemic but our creative and production team that were already small, has been cut in half. In an email wrapping up the lay offs, management wrote “there isn’t enough work for everyone.” But how is there still enough work for an account team that’s triple the size of the creative team, after the loss of three major clients?
I’ve worked at some top agencies as a creative but still early in my career. Got an offer at Tiktok. Worried about making the switch, but no agency is hiring right now and I was laid off. Can I go back to agency life when this is all over? Is Tiktok even a respected company given all the suspicions surrounding them?
What specialty loses people first in layoffs? What specialty loses people last in layoffs? Here’s the list: project management, account, creative, strategy, planning, analytics.
Were there layoffs at anomaly? I heard a huge chunk of their creative department was let go but haven’t seen any news. Hope everyone’s ok if so 😞
I’ve been laid off twice in the past 12 months. Both places were start ups, but I’m worried my whole career is going to be like this as a creative. It seems like we’re the first to go. Thoughts?
No one in the creative department should be laid off until the Global Chief Creative Officer position is eliminated. It has no purpose today. Nobody is flying to different offices and award shows.
I’m a junior creative with 2 years of experience under my belt. Im getting laid off. How common is this? How do you not lose hope?
Anyone ever transition from creative to account? Thinking that if I get laid off I might go after those roles too. How’d you get them to give you a shot?
Is it noteworthy to have worked in the creative industry for 23 years -18 in advertising, without ever being fired or laid-off? Are there medals or gold watches for that?
Anyone else come from creative? I made the move about a year ago after being laid off (out of necessity, junior strat roles in creative were hard to come by), and have found the transition...
Former CW here. Went the planning route because i already had a corporate background that helped me start off at a higher pay. Recently laid off and trying to find an angle to exploit my creative and strategic expertise. I used to be a good cw -and even won awards- but i really needed the income planning offered. I’ve also done well as a planner. What can I do? I have mentored many creatives and strategists to know that I might be a good ACD, as I seem to have more talent at guiding than doing.
I was just laid off from a mid-sized B2B agency trying to go creative and changing their mind. Any advice on the portfolio since the creative is... lacking?
What's a creative to do when they need to leave their current agency, but it seems like every big shop in LA has had layoffs for one reason or another, so no one is hiring? 😫
Applying to work at Microsoft, can anyone speak to the culture there? Did you miss consulting after switching over? Is it woman friendly?
Does anyone know if we can use our work phone when traveling to Mexico/Canada or if international roaming still applies? On Verizon and not sure what the coverage is outside the US
Me and my SO make $320k, we have a child with special needs and we live in expensive Boston suburb, because of the public school system. We’ve been renting 2BDR 1500 sq feet for the past 6 years, our current rent is $3100, and our lease expires in the end of June. Landlord wants to know if we plan to renew for the same price. We can potentially look into buying kinda fixer-upper, ask for lower price or move out into bigger house. Thoughts?
I am currently going through 3rd round of interview at a tech firm and I’m not sure if the employer is aware that I need visa sponsorship - should I check with HR? I don’t think there was a screen for visa sponsorship
Next Prediction for H1b: if you're not going to the office i.e. if you're working from home, leave the country. Kinda obvious move right? I'm a high five you if you predicted this before I break some furniture and cry in the corner.
Anybody else feel like they're completely mailing it in lately? I've just lost all motivation to do "good work". How am I still like 30 years away from retirement 🙈
A ban on big business’ efforts to merge with or acquire distressed small businesses will help protect markets from corporate control, but alone it won’t be enough. Other necessary steps include bolstering the small business-oriented Paycheck Protection Program and freezing utility payments. And, of course, small businesses will still have the option of combining to survive this crisis—the merger moratorium would apply only to those giant businesses receiving money through a federal institution.
It doesn't matter how often it happens, it kind of sucks when the grown ups go present to the client while you sit in the team room alone 😔
Reminder to the visitors in this bowl: you are that, a visitor. Respect the space or leave. This app is toxic enough without you bringing that coronavirus bowl energy in here. Thank you.
I just found out that the specialist path is being extended down to the analyst level. Certain schools will only offer “Specialist Analyst” where they only get 65k a year and not eligible for GSAP wtf
About to go on a first date post-quarantine. How do people say hello these days on dates? My usual would be a kiss on the cheek but suspect in our current times that’s not going to be suitable. For context we are going for outside drinks so masks are going to have to come off.
Thoughts on exiting to Wayfair in manager role owning P&L. Comp is 20% lower and moving from NYC to Boston. 4 YOE
Does anyone have any good quality cosmetic bags they recommend? I am looking for both a smaller purse size as well as a larger travel one. Thanks!
