Yes. I am explained how to do my job on a regular basis by someone who has never done that type of work before. Instead of trusting my abilities and the knowledge I have gathered through my experiences, my insights are always questioned while male colleagues are trusted without hesitation. Sometimes I wish I was a man that looked older than his years instead of a woman that looks younger than her years so people would just let me do the job I was hired to do.
Everyday. I am a subject matter expert for the space agency and still feel like a female engineer rather than an engineer. If I speak up to dissent technically I am often told to not be emotional or to not take it personal, like what is that silliness? No one says the same things to my male colleagues when they speak even more passionately. I wish one man would advocate in a meeting that those types of comments are biased and muddy the technical discussion. Instead I have to deal with technical challenges (challenging but part of the job) and another layer of unconscious bias BS that I did not sign up for. I see so many extremely capable women have to live in uphill battleland because of being a woman. The government loses out on technical and high performing women who leave because the environment is exhausting and beneath their contempt.
