Hello! Has anyone here moved from the Life Science/Medical field to Consulting? Finished my MD last year and have 4+ years of research experience. Have been applying broadly to consulting firms (most with referrals) but I'm only getting rejections. Really want to move into consulting so any help would be appreciated! I don't mind starting off as an analyst or entry level job and make my way up.

Do principle/partners/MD have to do case interview when they apply to new firm?

I really like my firm and team, but the firm pays below market for the work that we do, wlb is crap like everywhere else. I am interviewing with firms that would pay more, e.g., T2 small and large. I’ve been a solid performer, very strong project and bd feedback. I’m up for promotion during the next cycle. I really vibe with my team, and I wonder if I can keep an offer or two handy to extort from hr comp match. Is it a good idea? Will it affect my relationship with the MD (salaried)?

I have been doing mostly ops/pmo projects at Deloitte and don’t have much knowledge of finance, but somehow got an interview for an associate role at a well respected family office. Interviewer is an MD in direct investments. I have no idea how to prepare and not embarrass myself. Interview is tomorrow. Pls help. 😭

Is it good to let CD/MD/HRs of an agency you’re interviewing with know you’re talking to other agencies too?

If it’s good, how to tell them appropriately?

I’m interviewing for a MD/exec level role within industry.. big jump in pay etc. I’m through the first and second round (recruiter, then hiring manager). Now there’s at least 5 more - stakeholders, other direct reports of hiring manager etc.. ending with one more interview with the lead if all goes well.
My question is what might be the sorts of questions and conversation with these other stakeholders?

Any thoughts on TPG’s REPE group? Interviewing for an associate position in SF, talked with a couple VPs, still need to talk with an MD and take the modeling test.

MD folks. Finished all of my interviews and recruiter setup a follow up video call for next week to discuss next steps. What should I expect? How can I prepare?

Are big 4 final interviews always with a partner or can they sometimes be with just an MD?

Hi fish, I got an verbal offer during interview with MD at Goldman this Friday. MD generally confirmed my visa status and talked about title and potential package I could expect. Completed Compensation Questionnaire and had a 15 mins call with Fragomen before interview with MD. May I know what should I expect for the next step and the timeline I should expect? Thanks fish!

Accenture strategy and consulting closing interview with senior MD (last round) - what to expect and focus on?

What to expect with partner/MD interview? Senior level. It's been a while since I've done this..

I have an hour long interview with a MD at Accenture - Strategy & Consulting. The recruiter said it was just a “general conversation” but the SM who interviewed me in the previous round mentioned that he was an expert in the niche area that I’m being hired for. What should I expect? Should I be expecting technical knowledge-based questions?

Is it the interviewers (MD’s, VP’s, analysts) or is it the recruiter that reached out to me who gets the final say? I’m crushing it with the directors, Vp’s but not really talking too much sith the recruiter. Please help

Had second interview with MD and don’t think I did well 😔 at least it’s Friday and can drink away sorrows

Hi everyone, I kindly ask for suggestions here. I was been referred by my friend to financial service tax in EY.After a call with the MD, he said that my background doesn’t align with theirs because they usually hire Staff1 from campus recruiting, they don’t hire Staff2 and I’m not qualified for Senior1. I am a staff accountant in a local public accounting firm for two and a half years with CPA. Im having a interview with EY recruiter soon! Any suggestions on tax lines? Or tips for interview?

Now I have two more interviews with the directors in the team, and then if successful with the MD. What exactly are these interviews about? Is it just more behavioural questions?

Guess a con. firm: Went through the HR screen, three case studies/tests, three interviews with leadership (eg dir/par/vp/md) got a call from HR straight after the final one saying they have excellent feedback and they want to progress to make me an offer but need to get approvals and find me the right team, ghosted me for more than a month after which I chased recruiter who says that they unfortunately won't be coming with an offer with some bs about not being able to find me the right team.

Can I disclose a public sector client if it's public knowledge to an interviewer? As in our contract was published and reported on, is it ok for me to say I work on it? Also the project is a covid project and pretty obvious to connect the dots if I describe my work.
