I think the industry is holding its breath to see how the November elections play out. In addition to presidential candidates with wide differences of opinion on this subject, there are also congressmen and senators to be selected who will be responsible for writing laws, funding projects, etc. Maybe by next March we will either see some growth or just close everything down and move to Greenland to buy beachfront property to develop for Spring Break 2050.
ESG is a bit funny but it’s temporary. Even if federally support if wiped out after the election, the mandatory reporting form California will trickle into other states due to scope 3 reporting requirements (they will need data from out of state suppliers to meaningfully report).
Companies are in a state of disbelief that it will actually happen, but it will, then they will all scramble to hire. Most requirements start 2025 so just hold on, soon there will be more jobs then professionals to fill them
Ugh I'm really not sure. I keep waiting for the job market to start looking better but so far, I don't know if it's improving for anyone who is on the job hunt right now. It feels like so many jobs are being automated, outsourced (especially abroad), or just turned into contract positions. I don't think it's just our industry being affected but every industry too
What specific areas are you looking? ESG is really in high demand, or at least was a few months ago when I was in the job market.
No I was in big4 looking to get out. I thought there were a lot of in house jobs at the time and then quite a bit with different consulting firms looking bc to get into that area or expand.
