Recent lateral junior associate in brand new practice where I'm the only associate. I'm probably going to bill 1,500 hours max this year due to being very slow and taking time off for a delayed honeymoon which I disclosed during my interview process. I have been told my work product is good, I don't turn anything down, I participate in non-billable work, I'm responsive and I always let people know I'm available to help. Do I need to be worried about getting fired for low hours?

Nah it’s on them to get you enough work. Enjoy

Would suggest that you explicitly say a couple times throughout the year that you aren’t getting enough work to be on track to make the hours, despite asking. Don’t let it be a shock at the end of the year that you didn’t make it, then don’t have room to question whether it’s you.

like

It depends I’d say. If they have a requirement to you’ll probably have a conversation with them at the end of the year. But if they like you and everything else is good I don’t think they’d fire you. Also make sure you’re asking for work. Many firms have staffing partners and they just suck at it so you gotta do their jobs for them and ask to be staffed on more things. If it’s truthfully just slow and there isn’t more work to go around I would imagine you are safe.

Also, is there a bottom limit where I should be worried? Like 1,200?

I’d say below 1,400

SalesForce folks, a recruiter reached out for an opportunity to interview for a AE position in my specialty. I noticed there is also an opp available locally for a Strategic Account Manager in my vertical as well.
Any one know of pay difference between the two, responsibilities/expectations, how they are viewed in the org itself?
I understand they are different but in my job today, I handle both roles so can go in either direction.
Appreciate any input.

Random, but valid/persistent thought.

After 2 years of a pandemic and working independently for many years, I am not feeling interviews AT ALL. There are points in the interview where I want to just say "Look! Either hire me or don't".

How can I get over this feeling? I'm over the whole "stand in the line of fire to prove how good I am" bs. Any recommendations for getting over this or possible industries to pivot into to avoid bs interview processes and ghosting?

For all you retail people...are you experiencing a very slow holiday season? I am a retail manager and I feel like this season has been freakishly slow. Is anyone else experiencing this in their market?

I know this is very specific, but I'm curious what has been the case for others at firms with similar vacation rules.

I wish it would be morally acceptable to publicly trash companies that did 5/6 rounds of interviews with you and completely ghost after. Most of these were done during work hours. Required a lot of arrangements. A total of 5+ hours over weeks. So disrespectful.

Currently two offers in hand brillio and citiustech
The role i get at citiustech is perfectly matching for my career path and at brillio i am not completely sure about project details
Citiustech is giving me 1Lakh more than brillio
But the issue is citiustech is having a retention pay concept which sounds like 2 year bond which seems not good
Here can I negotiate with Brillio for better offer again and role? Only few days left in my np now

If you are juggling multiple interviews at the same time and have ranked which employer you prefer the most to the least (but ultimately would be happy with any on the list) what would you do if the one you prefer the least is moving along faster than the one you prefer most? Ideally I would like things to work out and have all the cards on the table to choose from at the same time.

Anyone considering lateraling for the sole reason that practice group and Firm leadership are incompetent and tonedeaf, and you would never want to be a partner with those people? Or am I being naïve in thinking that it would be different elsewhere?

like

Pretty new to these parts, but I don't understand how people can accurately compare hours billed. It seems like there is no uniform billing MO and what one person would bill 2 hours for, another attorney would bill 3.4 for the same work product. Billing less may mean you're more efficient (or ethical). Billing more may mean you're more diligent. I'm assuming I'm missing big points here.
