Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I try not to answer this question to avoid getting lowballed. If I'm pressed, I'll give an honest answer, but I'll also add in my target salary range. I'm not going to leave a stable, comfortable job for the same amount of money.

That’s a good idea - plug in the salary you’re looking for. Thanks
Depending on the laws where you live/where you're applying, it's illegal to ask this in many places...

Really??? I’ll have to look it up. Thanks!
I would not answer this question. I'd say something like - my company tends to be private with compensation details but you can probably find some guidance online.

Oh interesting response. Thanks for that idea

I don’t think companies can generally confirm it in a background search. That being said I’m always honest

Yeah I’m not sure either if they can confirm previous salary or not.
No, I will always go a little higher when they ask what I previously made. I don’t think they can get your past salary information from your former employer. I think your former employer can just say if you’re eligible to be hired or not.

Ok I thought there was a database they could search but I could be wrong.
