Say you apply to an internal role (and your manager knows about it), but you don’t get the job. Do you just let your manager know about it casually, and reiterate your interest in and commitment to the current team? Wouldn’t your manager be a bit wary of your renewed interest in the team now that your internal job application fell through ?
Anyone have the inside scoop on MediaCom? Currently a director on the tech side of the world. Considering a company change. Too many layoffs and people leaving my current company. Depressing.
26, no kids or debt, making 175k/Yr - miserably bored at work and want to work for a startup. In the size startups I want for the role I want I’d have to take 50% pay cut Thoughts?
Level unlocked - A big4 partner who interviewed and grilled me for 45 mins said 'It doesn't feel like an interview cos I wasn't able to make you feel uncomfortable' Why am I posting this here - Motivation, fwiw. 4/5 months ago I was probably the most awkward, anxious non native interviewer. Got a McK interview, practiced like never before, failed the final round due to anxity/casing eff ups. Although I failed, gained lot of confidence and have been flying thru tier 2/b4 interviews since.
Currently KPMG Strategy, thinking about moving over to ACN “Strat”. Will be a level up from where I am, KPMG Strategy M to ACN SM, which is a nice bump in pay. Probably would be KPMG D in 2 years, so this accelerates me a bit. Other than the compensation, any reason why NOT to do this? Looking at a 25-30% base pay bump.
Layoffs are the only way the industry will survive. A Great Depression is imminent. There is no other way this will all end.
Just got promoted to senior in DT (I’m in TP) usually year over year we get allocated slightly more comp % being in IT/TP than BTS or other larger groups. This year obviously not the case my PPMD explained there was no “merit based” corps and that could likely happen again next year.... the comp we got was honestly shockingly low (3%). Have a good friend just get promoted to senior in PWC TP .. got 20% and a 2.45% bonus ... anyone hear of this? Or believe this is true cause I am shocked

Stay at current job and get promo is 3 months or transfer to a different job(that I’m lukewarm about) where’d I essentially would have to start over in terms of skills/promotion?
I feel so irritated. I don't care if I work late or weekends because I know what I signed up for, but when I say that I need to work, my friend replies with "🤡" or "🥴" It's my life so I don't know why these reactions are necessary. Our jobs aren't apples to apples, I have a quicker TC trajectory, even if I don't make more yet (he's older), AND most importantly I enjoy my job. But I feel so crappy when he says this & pretty much says I'm stupid for working this much and bugs me about my bonus
How do you guys use your internal network at your firm to exit into your dream job? Do partners or sr. Managers help you get introduced or refer to firms that interest you? How should I go about it?
