It's true that working a lot is crucial. It's like the old line, the more I work the luckier I get. But you also need time to refresh. Charles Dickens would walk for hours a day, year after year. It's how he was able to write so much. Had he just sat at his desk writing it would have been gibberish. The walking refreshed his mind and let him write solid stuff every day. Something worth contemplating.
I’ve actually been walking to clear my head and it does wonders… by the time I’m done clearing my head it’s about 1-2 hours walked. What you’re saying has so much truth. Lots of geniuses did this. Not sure what the science is behind it
Maybe someday it’s possible but with the market the way it is now and the increasing competition and threats AI poses on the creative world. No, you have to sacrifice your work life balance if you want to be seen as valuable and get promoted it’s frustrating. I hate it. It makes me regret my decision to go into this field, but it is what it is right.
Sigh.. it is what it is indeed. Well said
Define "great"? If you want the fanciest work title you can get, maybe it would be difficult balancing work life balance. For me, being "great" means spending time on my hobbies. Not neglecting friends and family. Taking proper care of myself. Ya know?
Love that definition. I want that too, but I’m saying great in terms of the titles and accolades / recognition
