You are describing my life.
Two types of associates in this world: those that do this and those that bill everyday and live carefree.
I firmly believe most of us are the former. We like the challenge.
I don’t understand how you bill at the end of the month. Do you keep track of your hours on paper, or just guestimate hours/task at the end of the month.
I keep track in one note. I just put work on x -3 hours. At the end of the month I bill for all my emails, and write out time entries that will be paid by an insurance company instead of just saying draft motion.
I recently switched firms and they have a different time system than Carpe Diem, but still with timers. These timers flag you if there's no narrative, and when you go to close them they ask if you want to submit the time. Something about this system makes it soooooo easy to submit time daily. It helps that my current clients are fine with block billing, so I don't have to go through and do my .1s.
It's called Expert Time.
If you don’t enter your time as you go, I guarantee you that you’re missing things that you could bill for. It’s annoying and stifles the creative process but you have to learn how to do it.
