Does anyone here feel like they’ve ever worked to their full potential? In my 16 years, I think I have maybe for 1-2 years because I’ve almost never had a manager who cared at all about actually giving opportunities to employees.

I do think you nailed it on the head there about the lack of leadership. Having a good manager who cares about you and is supportive of your performance and growth is the key to maximizing your potential. I've been fortunate to have had this throughout most of my career, but there have been lulls where I didn't and my growth stagnated as a result.

Well that's depressing. I do feel like I've had opportunities here and there to work at my full potential, but almost always when I was thrust into leadership positions at places that were practically falling apart. My superpower is putting out fires, hah! Hope you find more chances to use your superpowers.

I’m in the same boat! I had to craft my own opportunities and my current boss was supportive enough from an empathetic pov to give me the opportunities I asked for, but not much in terms of mentoring at all. And yes I had worked in multiple places falling apart too lol and I’m at the point I’m getting quite sick of putting out fires haha. Hopefully my next job will be better!

No, I don't think I have at all. It makes me really sad when peoples talens and skills are not used to their full potential.
