Rising Star
Given the economic circumstances, it’s unlikely most consultants feel good about consulting these days regardless of firm. 2 years ago our firm was on a rocket ship and felt like we had the leeway and psychological safety to really grow without fear of the axe. Doesn’t feel the same now and that sucks. Personally, I can’t blame the firm specifically though. Overall, my experience has been very positive: 1) I’ve learned a ton, 2) I like my colleagues 3) AS unique cultural aspects are great (ex the last 6-8 months)
Rising Star
OP, for some of my personal context: I’m a bit of an “older” SC, and I’ve worked in several companies with varying cultures. I’m also not saying AS has the “perfect” culture. Other companies had some better characteristics that I personally liked (for example, I’ve worked where community/charity involvement was more celebrated and encouraged, or, lunch time was always an hour or slightly more and encouraged as a true break, and to be taken with most of your teammates, etc).
Not anymore, liked it 2-3 years back. At least in EU
What changed?
we like this firm when we get promoted
Pro
Pros and cons. People who leave comments like this make it clear they've never had a job anywhere else.
Exactly. The whole industry is bad right now. We had stagflation, and every consulting company is not doing great.
Pro
There are lows and highs. (For me the highs outweigh the lows)
But if you, overall, don’t enjoy working here: why are you still with this firm?
Who would leave a job right now?
I like the industry, the projects, the career progression speed, and (most importantly) the people I work with.
Sure it could be better, but it also could be way worse.
It's much better than basically every other consulting firm. The grass is not greener on the other side of the fence in consulting. Every firm did mass layoffs. Every firm cut expenses. Every firm is not like it was 2 years ago.
You should be directing your anger at the government causing stagflation rather than the firm trying its best to deal with it.
Hey look it’s the government inflation guy again hahaha
