Does anyone truly like Google Workspace (slides, docs, sheets, etc.)?

The one thing that I think is an underrated but significant advantage is the ability to link slides between decks in Google (e.g., if you update one slide in a deck, it’ll automatically get updated wherever else it is linked). Huge time saver that I wish PPT had

ok

Brightest spots are NotebookLM and Gemini, which claim strong privacy protections when using Google Workspace

NotebookLM especially - can’t find anything else quite like it

NotebookLM is insanely useful. Idiots be like “podcasts are dumb”.

I really like Google Sheets for casual / personal life use. I find it to be more user friendly

💯 my whole life going back to under grad is in google docs. So is my husband’s. We could seamlessly merge things like home maintenance logs, budgets, lists of restaurants we want to visit and everything in between easily.

I don't.

I actually do. It’s easy to use, organized well, and easy to share.
Yes I think there are limitations with formatting and even stability for very large files (esp Sheets once you have 100K+ rows) compared to PPT, Excel, and Word, but most of those features are overkill anyway and you learn to adjust / find workarounds.

I cringe every time I have to use Slides with a tech partner. It’s just unusable.

Hated it at first because I was used to the control of Office.

But now I'm a big fan. Forces materials to be visually simpler since it's a total pain for them to be complex. And so we end up spending more time on content and substance.

smartfunny

I agree visual complexity is often not worth it
Visually appealing is still entirely too difficult in Slides vs PPT

For personal use they're fine. I use basically everything Google for my personal use. But for work, I want Office. It's purpose built for business applications at this point.

like

It feels easier to collaborate on the same document at the same time, plush sharing feels easier

They could just add a few more features and it would be better

like

Wouldn't touch it.

I use it and like the simplicity of it. Also emailing links to docs instead of the document allows for changes and updates after you send it.

Sharing works wayyy better and slides actually works in browser unlike ppt. I still do not fully understand or trust who has permissions and via what method in Office.

I’m also a fan of the simplicity but can see that’s a matter of taste. It was the best when slides wouldn’t go lower than 6 pt font.

Now I use the rest of the Microsoft ecosystem (power platform mainly) a lot more in my work so I probably wouldn’t go back but I do miss it.

I die when i lose access to thinkcell

All these snobs here who’ve never actually used it haha

Inability to create custom toolbars
No quick access
Color picker is atrocious
No native ability to use vectors
I despise the default select mode with your mouse - I don’t want everything selected tyvm
Offline mode sucks (if it really exists at all)
Charts have to be linked to sheets (and formatting SUCKS in Sheets)
I’ve heard people complain about animations, but imho if you use animations you’re a dweeb
Shall I continue?
