Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... It's funny, I thought I'd hit it today feeling fired up and ready to go. But instead I feel like I'm moving in slow motion. Thankfully there's nothing really critical happening, so I'm able to slowly warm up and get back into the swing of things.
I totally get that—first days back are always rough and I'm feeling it too. It’s like my brain is still on vacation mode. The struggle is real! Hopefully the productivity picks up as the week goes on, but no shame in taking it slow today.
