First year biglaw partner here. How much of a book do I need to build so I can stop being a service partner to other partners?

If you want to be independent of other partners, you should have enough self originated work so that you can hit your collectibles goal and your originations goal by working just on your clients. Take a look at your hourly rate, your firm set goals, build in a cushion for write offs, and that math will give you an hours target. Then, look at the average hours a client's matter typically requires, and that should give you a rough idea of how many clients you need to orginate to be self sufficient. If you are asking about the size of your book to make equity partner, that varies between firms and you will have to ask your firm and hope you get a straight answer.

Depends on your firm and your region. The range is huge.

This. Very firm dependent. Ask your firm.

I’m more asking about independence rather than equity

I think billables/book and independence are the same thing. If you’re reliant on other parents to give you work, you are de facto not independent.

I NEED MORE PLANT PICS ON HERE!

Hello folks, I’m after some advice please. I recently bought a couple of indoor plants and added to the cart what I think is a very expensive bottle of natural mist to use on the leaves. All organic, glass bottle etc. supposed to use it 2-3 times per week but 2 weeks in I’m down to half a bottle and it was £15 (approx $20). I understand that I need to nurture the plants but it strikes me as a rather expensive mist. Is there anything you’d recommend I can use instead? Thanks.

Is it a goner? I hope not! I always get so sad when I love a plant too much and kill it. Like darla from finding Nemo. Ugh. Can someone help??

How much experience is recommended before applying? I’m 2 years out of undergrad and have been working in consulting at Big 4 since graduation. Aiming for M7 and interested in Data & Analytics and Finance.

My colleagues
Just to put some intro
I am 22 years after college experience and worked in consulting for 15 years and currently in industry for 7 years.
My long term goal is to go back to consulting more of a business advisor from a strategy perspective
Here is my question
Would MBA be any good for me especially looking at strategy side?
I don’t want to spend $200K and would probably go online MBA in a mid tier school. Are those any good?
Looking forward to your great input on this topic

When would be the right time for me to get an MBA given my background?

I was a teacher for 4 years and transitioned into the corporate world. I have 6 months experience in marketing and that’s what I currently do, but plan for a lateral move in the future. I’ve seen suggestions of 3-7 years experience - does my teaching experience factor in? Or should I consider the 3-7 years only of my corporate time? Or is an MBA sooner a good move because of my big career transition (and future lateral)?
