I'm wondering if that's real or AI generated. There's a series of similar ones on Instagram, and they appear to be in generic locations (in Australia, apparently), so they seem to only exist in two dimensions. So that's one way to pitch it, you can generate billboards for Instagram, which should keep the budget under control.
It’s real. And they made about 10 different executions.
Kind of gimmicky if you ask me. What is it really doing? Selling pasta machines? Or just saying "machine make pasta out of billboard joke laugh". This is non-industry linkedin fodder that gets shared on Facebook "why arent all advertisements this cReAtIvE."
I think my real feedback, if a creative showed this to me, would be "do you have an idea that doesnt just rely on the visual gag." If this had a killer headline, or literally anything else, it would work. 2/10.
Visual gag, or visual interest? Gags and gimmicks are basically the same thing "pun" of the copy world. 90% of the time they are low effort low thought vehicles that don't communicate. This may grab attention but it doesnt say anything, really about anything. I dont come away with a feeling about the brand, the product, the relationship therein, even their point of view. You might think that is a lot for a billboard, or that means it has to be heady or serious, but thats the thing about really good funny ads, they communicate something more than the humor. I dont think this is a good investment for any advertiser.
Some of these are now just fully CGI social posts. Like the trend of giant fashion accessories in a city. You can pitch it as that, since the media buy itself is harder in reality.
