It's complete WFH.

Is it a product based company or a service based company?
How wlb will be in Capita plc?

Feels like it. Putting in the time and effort should be what matters. WFH presents its own challenges such as home/life distractions. If the work is getting done and you’re not missing important meetings or deadlines, why should they care that you’re not on at 9:00?
From a previous comment it sounds like you are new to this position/team — in my experience it is best to set a good first impression as it can lead to greater flexibility down the road. Unfortunately it sounds as if you may not have done that.
I would log on by 9 consistently for the next month or two and then see how it goes. They are probably looking at you more closely because you are new and they don’t know you.
To answer your question: Plenty of jobs have set start times and I wouldn’t consider having a set start time for the workday to be micromanaging. That being said — if there is no flexibility for the start time of your workday, then it would also be appropriate to give no flexibility for the end time of your workday.
Time to find a new job😂 no reason to work with those clowns.
As a data analyst, I would have expected you to download pyautogui and install via python to keep your computer active regardless then I would take all the free time I saved from logging in every 10 minutes and apply to new jobs. 100% what I would do if I was in your boots (even if this was my first week on the new job)
Was this a one time thing or are you regularly not online by 9? How much later after 9 are we talking about?
Definitely not regular, 10-20 minutes

Might depend on the company/team expectation. If you are expected to work during certain hours or have a set start/stop time then it may matter.
I have a set start/stop time. I just send a note when I’m online and log off but no one is clocking me. Every place I have worked require the email for logging on/off and say it is part of a safety recall thing in case something happens. I guess it makes sense if we are home since you could technically be dead at the house and no one would know something was up without the email. 🤷♀️
Doesn’t feel like micromanaging to me. I send the email and go about my morning routine and then work when I’m ready. Sometimes set teams meetings with myself if I def don’t want to be disturbed.
Employees are expected to work the hours established as regular working hours of their employers. Independent contractors are allowed to operate in their own schedule and are responsible for completing tasks. If you are an employee, you cannot rely on the assumption that getting the job done is all that matters and the time you make yourself available is flexible. If you want to have that kind of flexibility, start your own business and search for contract positions that allow for such. In the meantime, you should not be surprised or offended by being held accountable for fulfilling the minimum job requirements.
No disrespect but if you’re wfh, meaning no commute, you should be on by like 8am pretty easily.
Suck it up buttercup if you are on payroll & it means 9:00 it means 9:00.
This has begun to happen where I work. Basically in tandem with being incredibly strict on RTO they are making sure people are active on their PCs beyond moving a mouse every few minutes to stay green. I may sound conspiratorial but I think they want to reduce headcount without using the L word. At the end of the day, though, gotta do the job you were hired to do.
Umm there’s this app you can download from the Microsoft store, etc. called wiggler that automatically keeps your status as active
Wouldn’t the IT know though it’s installed? Also if they get asked a question and won’t reply for 2 hours , the wiggler would not help
