Why is your manager having you work on deals without codes? If there is a signed EL, there should be a code. If there isn’t a signed EL… you shouldn’t be doing anything for it. What am I missing?
Yeah, I get it. That’s why I knew it was Big 4.
Because administrative burden or not, I’m still going to emphasize the fact there *should* be a code for any client work you are working on. Lol.
So what to do? Depending on your firms practices, you can always hit it to another code you know is the same client, and clearly indicate in the comments it was for “Project Example”. But even if you can’t do that, realistically, it doesn’t really matter until you’re a manager at which time you will have sufficient codes to charge to, or unless you are sat down and talked with about your lack of charge hours. And if that happens, you just explain what happened on X,Y, n+1… deals, and why your charge hours look wack. And if they aren’t cool with the results of their own practices, then you need to find a new firm to work at.
That’s illegal
Lol — it’s not “illegal”. A firm / corporate policy isn’t a law.
Sometimes I have this happen (I’m in deals, too) but never more than a handful of hours. You need to talk to your mentor/coach about where to put these hours and it needs to be a billable code.
Agreed, already talked with the partners/directors but still pending a place to book
Every new joiner ever.
No, that would be assuming all of my hours worked have not been charged this fy. Other projects had charge codes
What does that mean? A code never opens? Can’t you just charge the code for the client you are currently working on?
