Anyone else here have terrible utilization because their deals die and a code never opens? /can’t find another code to book hours? I’m sitting on over 200 billable hours at this point

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? TIA!

If you take vacation, is the onus on you to make up that billable time? If so, how do you enjoy long vacations?

Hired as SA1. if my utilization is low for round table but I’ve gotten good Snapshots will I go up to SA2 or SA1B, which I don’t want of course.

My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

Do you pay your credit cards in full every month?

I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). It got me thinking about how many people adhere to this advice.

hey, I joined Deloitte in June 2020 as an GPS SA analyst, I just staffed on internal project only providing me adjusted utilization. Now my standard util is 40 and my adjusted is 105... and this project last in another month... by then my standard util might be 20.. will my promotion be affected by this? Have any of you taken "low bono" clients while working at a firm? I want to take on a low bono client or two but not sure who would get the money. This is a contract opportunity through a non profit so I'm assuming a 1099 will be issued. The per hour rate is significantly less than my billable rate.
