95k is good money by any standards, BUT TITLES DO MATTER. This is a clear attempt to pay you as a junior employee, but have you perform senior responsibilities. I'd counteroffer and if not, walk away. Now, if that money represents a major improvement to your financial situation, you should take that into account, but when you add it to your resume, put the appropriate title for the roles you performed and leverage it that way.
I hate when people say titles don't matter because they absolutely do. And titles certainly matter on your resume. If you are desperate for a job I would take it and keep looking but if not, I would hold out.
I really hate when people downplay titles . It is very very important so as the pay!
I'll be the one to say it: I don't think titles matter that much. Especially if you are still increasing your skills and responsibilities. I'd rather take a lower title and more money while demonstrating my growth rather than being undervalued for some vanity title.
If titles don't matter then it should not matter to them to put your title as a Pricing Manager. After all titles don't matter.
Is it the job code or the title? There is a difference in where you work.
I could be a Director; Senior Control Manager or a VP senior financial analyst at my company
Hold out!!! Been in this position a couple of times, took the money as it was a drastic amount more than I was on. Big title jobs still come round asking for interviews, I think if the money makes a difference then accept but think the whole team is on the same usually is at one of these places.
A title doesn't matter. If 95k doesn't stroke your ego enough don't.
I'd take the job if you're in the market. Took me 8 months to find an SFA role that pays 100k. It's the same responsibility as a FM essentially
No titles do not matter. What matters is what you have achieved, your skillset and the level of those skills. What exactly would you be managing and how would it vary from a financial analyst? Senior indicates it is a leadership role at least in part, manager typically is a bureaucrat.
That’s a red flag for cheap labor. I would hold out. If they’re giving you a junior title, that also means junior pay. Then they’ll give you senior level responsibilities, but not pay you at the senior level. It’s happened to me and the only way out of it was to quit.
I don't think title matters as nomenclature changes from organizations to organizations. For example, a Citi Bank VP (individual contributor or team lead) is a manager in other places and the salaries are similar. I will focus on the responsibilities in the new role and see if the pay matches it to make my decision.
Probably hold out. What’s your YOE? I did something similar, but the pay was a massive jump so I didn’t care. Went from 120k + 11k bonus with a better title, to 155k plus 50k bonus as a “senior”.
Titles DO matter. I was a "Senior Analyst" managing 3 other analyst, reporting to CFO making 85-95k. I requested a title change and increase and was denied. Left the company and recruiters/companies deny I have managerial experience yet I have proven my abilities with temp jobs where I sit in as a manager when the employee is on maternity or something. In Fairfield County CT, 85k is equivalent to 45k. Unfortunately for temp jobs, my title is consultant.
