Has anybody dealt with anything like this. I was in sales for 35 plus years very good at what I did. A few newspaper articles about me a bunch of reviews but I got burnt out. So then I switched careers to security now I live in Las Vegas and I was working at casinos having fun. But not making money that I'm used to and now I'm in a very bad position. So now I'm trying to get back into the sales and since I had the last five years in security I seem a little bit screwed when they look at my past5

35 + 5 = 40. Assuming you started counting after graduating college at the age of 22, that puts you in your early 60s -- possibly 3-5 years from retirement. Employers might be concerned about your 5-year hiatus from sales, but you could overcome that by pointing out decades of success and that the 5-year break achieved its purpose of recharging your batteries. I'm your age. The last time I was between jobs I was 45. It was brutal competing with "young kids" in this industry, but I was given the chance and kicked ass. Asking for a job when your hand is on the doorknob of retirement is a tough act. Good luck in your endeavor. I hope you find a company that looks beyond the wrinkles, gray hair and dated pop culture references and is willing to take advantage of your vast experience, even if it will be for a precious few years.

Show me to tell you this you are really the most poorest representation to anybody out there. You know nothing about my skill level you know nothing about my ability so why would you have to comments on something like that not knowing who I am. I am sorry for the person you became but the person you became was a totally arrogant self-centered individualist that has no means of being in any kind of supervision or management experience that you think you deserve

Reflect on your sales skills. Build your confidence back up and find a product you believe in. Sales is sales. Go get em!
