I haven’t gone through NJ (sorry!) but I imagine you can file through Short Term Disability. I would just confirm with HR that there isn’t any kind of max number of times you can use STD in a specified window, since they probably want you to use that as well during parental leave.
You should definitely do short term disability over using your PTO — save that for extending time with baby 😊. Congrats and best of luck!
Thank you ❤️
CA also offers this. From my experience, Deloitte’s STD provider (MetLife) does not approve STD for this purpose. It’s surprising, and a change that started in 2024. What this means is you are put on leave without pay with Deloitte, but you’ll receive pay from the state (which is likely prorated but check with the state). You also become responsible for the premium of your benefits (e.g., health insurance). I ended up doing PTO to preserve my benefits and pay
Yeah that’s what I figured. I will file the claim with state directly and the max weekly pay is ~1.1k which I think is still good as it’s extra money and I can save my PTO. I was just wondering if I need to have any pregnancy complications to get qualified or just being pregnant is enough lol. I’m currently on my husbands insurance so that won’t be an issue but good to know!
