Has anyone ever been in a creative/strategy team? Like instead of a copywriter/art director team.

Not formally. But informally have been used for long periods by a couple of teams as their third member. Easily the most satisfying day to day work I have been involved in which resulted in better creative and more awards. Both those teams split up so was not something we could do FT but is the dream to one day find a team to do as a FT arrangement.

Every agency I’ve worked at is 10-20 creatives for every one strategist

like

That's great. Seems like a good idea, right?

Yeah I think it is a good idea. Needs buy in from agency to work from a resourcing perspective as the different cadence and involvement between planners and creatives and also needs creative team that values strategy and loves the strategist.

Besides honing my DSA, for skills, should I focus on MERN stack or pure .net development? I'm already familiar with MERN stack and .net core and have made small projects. But they are different and I would like to stick to one path and capitalize on it. Please help which one to choose- MERN or .NET?

What is a typical exit opportunity for a Director in FDD? I’m over the stress, but I feel like the monotony of industry will equally stress me out. I have only done FDD my whole career so the PE exit route is likely not going to happen (I’m realistic 🙂)

Hi everyone. Looking for freelancers in NYC and LA to work as business developers for the photo/film industry for our website. Work your own hours. High comms. Please message if you d like more info.

I may need a freelance senior (ish) AD to partner with for the month of January, in house at a start up. Post your books!

I'm looking for advice from those who have freelanced remotely with an international agency.

I'm based in NYC and have had firms in Canada and England reach out about projects. The agencies have offices in the US but I would be working w/ their international teams (servicing US based clients). I've asked for my standard rate in USD converted to their currency.

Any advice on the best way to get paid? Have you asked to get paid by the US office instead? Any watch-outs for tax season?

TIA!

Is booking 40hrs a week freelancing for one company a good idea? Or does that seem like you don’t have anything else going on? I would like a good work life balance with the ability to take off weeks at a time in the middle of all this.

Friendly reminder folks- don’t work for Havas Health and You. They cut the freelancers hourly rates, again and made it so there’s no OT. The resource manager at HOV said if I couldn’t swing $80 an hour as an HCP copywriter, she’d have to find someone else. Good luck 👍🏻

Need some advice. Current gig is 40hrs/week but work is drying up and they want to move to 5-10hrs/week. How would that even be structured? I don’t want to be “on call” for 5-10 random hours. My instinct tells me to just let the whole thing go but what do y’all think?

Newly freelance and struggling to set a rate. GCD, 20 years of agency experience. Any insight ? Thanks

I’ve been dabbling with the idea of getting into copywriting as something to soon the side but I have no experience doing it. What steps should I take (books to read, gigs to start with or pursue, etc) if I want to go from $0 and next to ) experience to $40k or so a year?

Right now I’m currently unemployed and taking a break from my fine art stuff to try to get back into tech sales, but I was looking to expand my skill set and also generate extra money at the same time.
