Has anyone ever had their doors shut from applying to new positions at other companies? I just finding it so frustrated that each job I applied for, I keep getting passed thru for other candidates, or is it that bad out there?

If you don't have a referral in, the odds of getting in on a cold application is very low and always has been. My first job switch I had been rejected, then got a cold call from them to see if I was interested. The difference? Someone I knew ( was one of their clients) mentioned to the hiring Mgr he knew someone who might be interested in the job. It is and always has been who you know. Network before you apply.

It’s that bad. We get thousands of applications for every job we post.

Home office preference question. I am getting ready to redo the layout of my home office. One option I'm considering would have my desk facing a wall. I am wondering if anyone with this current setup has any feedback about it. I would face the wall so that I would have a better background for video conferences (am on about half the day) and also my cord situation would be cleaner.

There's an office 5 minutes from my house. But I've been commuting 45 minutes for 4 years since I've been hired. Hoping they move me soon.
