I do things (late nights/weekends) that I don't think my managers/partner knows about since everything is running well - directly correlated with elected hours spent. Is it weird to bring this up?

My advise is, be like Batman.

Do badass things with discretion but leave subtle clues/indicators behind so your leadership can trace the credit back to you. Eventually they will recognize your worth and consistency in performance. So when more important things start to crop up, they will turn on the bat signal to look for you.

While we are concerned about work life balance, it’s about results not the hours. Are you working extra hours because the team is understaffed? Are you going above and beyond? If you brought this up to me, I’d consider it an issue I need to help resolve (unless it’s a high burn period but not the norm)

I like D1’s advice.

That said, I like to think most of the time we know these things since we used to do them too. But it’s always good to remind us in a settle Batman kind of way.

3 people to connect with

This week, I had the pleasure of speaking with more than 20 people from the web3 industry on various topics for my clients. Here are 3 people you should connect with:

Greg Chew, founder of QPQ
Ryan Watkins 🚀, CEO of Metacommerce
Flavie Prevot, head of partnerships of Fleet Collective

Hello, I am going crazy. I am supposed to close on a house on Tuesday. The buyer did not perform an inspection and the lender did not order an appraisal. The lawyer says that everything is good on her hand but I am not sure if she is the deciding factor here. Can a home close without a physical appraisal ? I don’t have a closing time yet, just the date. My realtor reached to the lender and have no heard back.

Investment question: would you invest in a 1bed 1 bath apartment in Jersey city or 3bed 2bath home in Austin (both priced around the same)

I live in Seattle, so pretty far from both cities.

If there is a sought after Director for a practice being built up at PwC. Has there ever been a time that a director can go straight to partner if they have an external offer that is quite compelling ?

Basically that offer would be 1st year partner salary and build off that ? Or PwC likes to stick to it's process and only other option is down the road consider direct Admit partner?

Question on generalist vs specialist path to becoming a CXO at a tech company!! I am in mid-40s, work for FAANG at senior level in sales role with a TC of $500K. Not a VP or CXO yet, and that's where I want to go as the next step in my career. Over the past 25 years, did sales (10-12yrs), delivery(5-8yrs), Strategy & ops (1yrs), and Product mgmt. (1-2yrs). I still believe need to sharpen my skills, so focusing on transferring to S&O or Prod mgmt. role in my current company. Makes sense?
