I’ve had to talk quite a few clients off a ledge to prevent panicked selling. To what degree are you all seeing this? I’m worried this is an industry trend and will lead to layoffs on our ends
Does anyone know someone who has been fired from their firm for political activism? Please state why and the context.
“If I said / did / acted the way the client just did, I’d probably get fired for it.” - Me, multiple times each day
Is it safe to hide the fact that I was part of a group layoff and say instead that I chose to leave? Can recruiters find out the truth from my former employer and hurt my chances?
In light of Tesla's layoffs, I’m curious if you are guided by a sense of mission in your work? Would our firms be better off if we had a mission to match the hours we put in? https://qz.com/work/1528263/the-risk-of-thinking-of-your-job-as-a-higher-calling/
I’m great once I’m with the client and my clients love me but apparently I suck at prospecting. Going to get fired any day now. What roles are non-sales like but will allow me to stay in the business?
Looking to potentially go back into the chair (was in management until a layoff). Do not have any clients to start with so would need a salary to begin with. In NY area - where should I be looking?
If you've been laid off, how upfront are you about it in interviews? Better to let them know right away or further into the process?
I run into a lot of Feds and I always hear: I'm here cuz of the pension, benefits and I don't have to work that hard because it's almost impossible to be fired. This really irks me
Worked in industry 19 years. 17 years without a single blemish on my crd. Couple illiquid reit's I put professional athlete clients into,in 2008. Fired the clients in 2011,2012 for refusing...continue
After getting laid off 2 weeks ago, I fired off about 20 resumes to different places. I have not received any feedback at all. Any ideas how to get past the computer and in front of someone?
Everyone thinks their firm is better than everyone else’s. Everyone who got fired or left a firm more than likely hates that old firm. Everyone who went Indy swears by sweet baby Jesus it’s the best
how many fee only fiduciaries have fired themselves, after a bad year(2007-09).If being a fiduciary is truly putting our clients best interest first, how can you truly be objective when you're mng acct
Client had $4mm w me, wanted to meet to talk about year end cash. He usually gets $200-500k in bonuses, publicly traded company. Tells me he's leaving, getting a severance package of... $10mm!
Has anyone been successful in negotiating more severance? I’ve been offered a month, but I don’t think I can survive just on it. Only have 2 months saved up.
A friend 🐠 was fired for accidentally sending confidential info to the wrong client and is worried about her chances of landing a new gig. How much should she tell the prospective employer about it?
Could people share some “I got laid off and it turned out to be great” stories? Granted I’m sure none of those stories involve being laid off in a global pandemic like I just was.
As opposed to forcing layoffs, could a firm just request their employees to go on sabbatical for reduced pay?
With so many layoffs and the strange uncertainty of this industry right now—is anyone scared to death?
When it comes to layoffs do you think parents are considered safe because they have mouths to feed or it doesn’t matter?
How many of you are still unemployed from last year lay offs? Interested to learn more about folks who were laid off and what they are doing.
Got a weird meeting request from creative manager and HR entitled “team rating mini master.” No clue what that means, but in a sea of recent layoffs/ 45 day notices, I’m expecting the worst. Thoughts?
Regarding layoffs, would anyone accept a pay cut to keep their current position? I wonder if that’s a viable solution when you have to cut costs, but also want to keep reasonably talented people.
One of my senior managers is a boomerang and told me she was laid off when she was 7 months pregnant about 10 years ago. I think she was a senior or manager. She was in a specific group and everybody was laid off. It wasn’t performance based. Would you work at your company again if you were laid off?
Intern hire set to start Oct (Healthcare/MC)... All the layoff posts have me a bit concerned, and has me considering other options. Am I overreacting?
Is it common to get fired (performance related) without seeing it coming? I'd assume there would be advance warning/discussions with managers and leads, but just curious. I always feel like I'm...
At ACN, who actually tells you you are getting laid off? HR, your CC, or Partner or a combo? Just checking for a friend of mine.
For those who got laid off/ left how long did it take for you to receive your Contribution back from the ESP?
Thoughts from NRIs / anyone based overseas on how to go about splitting investments between home country (citizen) and place of residence ? -Single - Male - 30y - from India and based in Singapore -No plans of returning to India anytime soon. Only needs are to have a safety stop, pay a mortgage and expenses for parents health - Aiming to settle down outside of India and pretty much starting from scratch here. Imagine busting your ass for the next 20 years to climb up the corporate ladder in accounting in the year 2040 just to get questioned by auditors born in 2015.

Hi Everyone, New hire in DC here. Which dental and health plan is the best for fresh college grad? Thx
Is an MBA worth it? I’m in track for an IT Audit Manager position in the next couple years, have Big 4 experience, and am satisfied with the idea of staying in audit for the foreseeable future (but open to other risk relate roles). Is an MBA going to do anything for me as I look to move up in the audit world in the future? Or should I just focus on doing quality work and not waste my time with an MBA?
ATL 🐠. Does anybody have insight, connection, etc, into Coke? Interested in experience, culture, pay, pace, and etc.
When you’re 80 and on your death bed, what do you think would be some regrets you’ll have? I think mine would be I wish I came out earlier and was more confident in talking to people.
Describe your firm's culture. For those of you that have worked for at least 2 of the B4, how are they different?
You think they were construct better dining options in Term A at LGA, for the number of business travelers coming through with expense accounts... Give me more alcohol and better food 😑
My current role is work from home and it will be extended past February. Any cool cities you guys recommend moving to since I have that flexibility?
Are paid case interview coaches worth it? For context, I practiced with peers out of undergrad and managed to land ATK / final rounds at all the T2s but didn’t get past round one for either BB. I recently had a final round case interview in industry where the feedback was that my structure was great but I stumbled on the math. Interviewing with MBB in 3 weeks and now questioning if I need more help?
