Honestly asking for a friend! If you were fired for sexual harassment charges, would that go on your U5 and hurt your ability to find a job at another career?
I’ve had to talk quite a few clients off a ledge to prevent panicked selling. To what degree are you all seeing this? I’m worried this is an industry trend and will lead to layoffs on our ends
Anyone here at a company that is already laying people off? Or gotten laid off themselves?
Does anyone know someone who has been fired from their firm for political activism? Please state why and the context.
Is it safe to hide the fact that I was part of a group layoff and say instead that I chose to leave? Can recruiters find out the truth from my former employer and hurt my chances?
I’m great once I’m with the client and my clients love me but apparently I suck at prospecting. Going to get fired any day now. What roles are non-sales like but will allow me to stay in the business?
Looking to potentially go back into the chair (was in management until a layoff). Do not have any clients to start with so would need a salary to begin with. In NY area - where should I be looking?
If you've been laid off, how upfront are you about it in interviews? Better to let them know right away or further into the process?
I run into a lot of Feds and I always hear: I'm here cuz of the pension, benefits and I don't have to work that hard because it's almost impossible to be fired. This really irks me
Worked in industry 19 years. 17 years without a single blemish on my crd. Couple illiquid reit's I put professional athlete clients into,in 2008. Fired the clients in 2011,2012 for refusing...continue
After getting laid off 2 weeks ago, I fired off about 20 resumes to different places. I have not received any feedback at all. Any ideas how to get past the computer and in front of someone?
Everyone thinks their firm is better than everyone else’s. Everyone who got fired or left a firm more than likely hates that old firm. Everyone who went Indy swears by sweet baby Jesus it’s the best
how many fee only fiduciaries have fired themselves, after a bad year(2007-09).If being a fiduciary is truly putting our clients best interest first, how can you truly be objective when you're mng acct
Client had $4mm w me, wanted to meet to talk about year end cash. He usually gets $200-500k in bonuses, publicly traded company. Tells me he's leaving, getting a severance package of... $10mm!
If you come on at Morgan Stanley and fail the series 7 and get fired, can you apply to other locations after a certain amount of time goes on, or will they never allow you to get back on with them?
Looking at the way people are laid off, utilization is just one part of it. It's so hard to pin point what is (proper consultants let go from projects, etc..)
So if I'm correct, PwC is the only Big Four that hasn't done a huge round of covid layoffs so far?
Is anyone here constantly worried about getting laid off? I didn’t get moved to my next level (SA1 > SA2 > SA3 before manager) last review cycle (I was 6 months in the firm). Now I’m always constantly worried I’m going to get laid off. Overall get along w people at my level up to manager, but cannot get along with most partners and some directors. I’ve had good reviews from the former, and mixed reviews from the latter.
Wondering if this is anxiety or intuition.
I’m at an agency that just went through several rounds of layoffs. It often seems like staff have no recourse when the layoffs hit. How could a staff union assist in that situation?
Agency CEO: This is a family... but if our annual profits are only 5% instead of 7%, you’re fired. 🤔🤨
I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).
Maybe it is "standard chewing out" but it bothered me a lot. So much that I find myself still getting all fired up inside thinking about it...
Idk how to let go of this :/ Thoughts?
Got a weird meeting request from creative manager and HR entitled “team rating mini master.” No clue what that means, but in a sea of recent layoffs/ 45 day notices, I’m expecting the worst. Thoughts?
Head of practice and someone from HR scheduled a call on the calendar? Its most likely a layoff?
I’m scared of being fired at any moment. Maybe it’s because of what happened in 2020, but does anyone else feel the same?
I’m a Junior accountant, recent MBA grad in Finance, located in NYC, just got laid off due to a merger. Anybody hiring or know any opening positions?
If you give your project/manager 1-2 months notice that you’re leaving to go to school (as a courtesy) and the firm decides to cut the cord sooner and forces you out, do you get severance?
Will Forensics be negatively impacted (layoffs, hiring freeze) by the upcoming recession?
A Big 4 auditor asking as they looking to potentially jump ship internally after completing first senior year.
Did anyone volunteer for leave of absence (loa) or partially loa? Would that bite you in the ass when being laid off in terms of unemployment benefits?
Top reasons for getting fired from consulting?
Meeting with just HR tomorrow, likely to get fired. I thought there would be a partner involved but guess not? Performance issues.
Audit Partners — Do you see longterm profitability of audit in general? Is it going to be worth being a partner, financially, given the risk you take on, in 10-15 years? With audit bids increasingly being driven way down by competition, & lower level resources demanding (much) higher pay than it was historically, I’m not convinced the partner track is still as enticing as it was pre-Covid. Seems like the job market/higher staff pay alone has GOT to be taking a huge cut into partner pay.
Thoughts on leaving Big 4 to go to a smaller firm (eg ATK, OW). Proposed role is great, more collaborative culture with less sharp elbows and a metrics first attitude... impact to personal brand?
I had cleared technical round of interview for Infosys and also submitted all HR docs.
But my application status in portal is review in progress since last 15 days.
Can anyone tell me what does this mean?
😐 I'll Google it now
My husband is in the army and I’m in biglaw. Due to where he’s stationed, I can’t really practice there and I’m too junior to really work remotely. I’ve been trying to fly to see him as much as I can but it’s so hard with the unpredictability of my schedule/the number of hours I work, etc. I’m feeling resigned and like only one of us can continue our career or we’ll have to live apart. Has anyone been in this situation, or have any advice?
I’m surprised we haven’t done this yet with 10k Whiskey Business bowl members but… Time for a poll! Like/react to your preferred whiskey type in the comments. Feel free to add if I’ve missed any.

For anyone who does Roth 401k, let’s say you max the annual contribution ($19,500). Within the Roth 401k, does the contribution itself become taxed ? I.e the contribution of $19,500 becomes ~$12,000 (example) Or, can you pay it off outside the retirement pool —> Where you still have 19,500 in the Roth IRA and let it grow?
