Can you do it and no one notice yes! Did my wife’s when she got laid off and she received a good half dozen calls for interviews.
So did every other resume I helped with as well…. except for the visa holder in HR management which is brutal place to find a job right now. everyone else I helped got a job and fairly quickly at that.
ChatGPT can make your resume personnel you just have to tell to do it. It’s not a one prompt “rewrite my resume please” and poof it’s done.
ChatGPT will go crazy on the — and the adjectives and describing every tasks a Herculean cancer solving effort if you don’t correct it. Those three issues are the giveaways if you don’t correct them.
You will need to section your bullets up into junks for each job and ask it to elaborate on some combine some. Suggest couple better options for leading action verbs. But it can help you a lot especially with ensuring proper grammar or suggesting how to redraft a bullet to better explain the ROI of something.
I find the layout of
Header NAME all caps
First line contact info
Short intro paragraph ie the career summary section. A few sentences.
Key word section “competencies” I am in AI so I would list just like this
Python | genAI | machine learning | mentorship |
You can feed your entire resume in and ask it to come up with 8ish relevant items
Now start listing your jobs. And feed it each existing set of bullets and ask it to analyze them and determine if any suggestions should be made. Reprompt as necessary if any bullets are short.
I also like to get 2 quotes from a coworkers and put it in a call out box. It doesn’t land you an interview but is a great way to break up the text and draw the read to look at whatever the next bullet is. So I suggest making that next bullet the best one you have.
Be sure to prompt it before starting you want it to act as a resume writer. You need help with grammar, and wording bullets in the typical style of a resume. You want it to help word things so the ROI of your work is self evident and not to over embellish or rely on excessive or fancy adjectives to sell it. Be factual and clear.
Either. It creates a break and naturally draws the eye so goal is make whatever comes after it a solid bullet.
Is easy to tell, I would use the ai resume as template and then give it a more personal tone
Not if done well.
Would you rather have a ats resume optimized by ai that gets a chance
Or you do it on your own and it never gets looked at?
Load the job description and your resume into ChatGPT and ask ChatGPT to Run your resume like an applicant tracking system for that job. Then update your resume until it scores into the top 10.
I think you should use ChatGPT as a career coach first. Load your full resume and if you have ChatGPT plus. Talk to it (advanced voice ) and tell it everything you loved and hated about your roles and your college classes that you remember. This full context should help it come up with 10 roles which align, 10 roles which unexpectedly you should consider, and 10 stealth ways to bypass ats applications so you are not one of 500-1000
If you just copy exactly what ChatGPT spits out onto your resume, then yes, employers will know it's been done by AI. You'll need to edit and humanize whatever AI gives you
I actually did when someone suggest it because I wasn't getting any interviews and it made a HUGE difference. I started getting calls for roles and actually got an interview and landed a role. I would suggest atleast trying it to see if it makes a difference with you.
Or use Copilot. Or try both
Copilot has worked well for me. Interested in learning why you would say that.
