Got a healthcare hedge fund analyst offer with 150K base and up to 250K bonus. With comp increase potential but no clear path to be promoted to portfolio manager given the fund size. The hiring manager tried to convince me with “long-term upside” but of course cannot commit to anything given the fund is new. Thinking I should turn it down but wonder how others think

Non-equity partner here, planning to put my name in the hat for an equity vote next fall. Looks like my buy-in will be approximately $100k. Question: how do people pay for their buy-in? I've diverted my 401k savings into a savings account for now (my firm doesn't offer a match, but gives us a flat percentage of salary contribution), but won't have the entire amount in the bank by next year. Thoughts? Personal loan? Home equity? Other?

I've heard multiple people say at a certain age, it no longer makes sense to make partner. What does that even mean? I know you typically have to be a partner for 10 years to fully vest in the pension. But even if I were a partner for just 2 years, isn't it still better to be a partner? Year 1 partner comp might be almost same as your comp the year you made partner due to health insurance and buy in, but it's not like you're worse off as a partner. And you get your buy in back when you leave.

I'm guessing I'll have to restart my PERM process at the new company if I decide to switch. Any personal experiences?
