I’ve been promised a promotion since Jan. ‘22, and each month it seems to get “delayed because of finance issues with client” (huge multinational corp.) and other issues with in house HR/finance depts. I absolutely love my job, my boss, perks, benefits, & it’s all remote. I can’t shake the feeling I’m being led on. Last update they gave was Oct. now they’re saying it won’t be until Dec. I’d hate to leave but I feel like it’s the only way to move up. All thoughts/similar experiences welcome. Thx.

Hey fish, I’m coming up on a year post PhD and this job has drained a lot out of me. There’s not a lot I enjoy: overpromising partners, annoying clients, endless iterations (from either client or partner), poorly scoped KOL interviews, long hours… The only reason I haven’t quit is the US healthcare system’s reliance on employer provided insurance. Where can I go with ~1YOE post PhD? It feels like nearly every job requires a lot more and I just don’t have it in me to push through another 1-2y…

How do you rationalise because sometimes parents depend on you something as basic as getting something from the top shelf. People from tier 2/3 cities moving abroad to better cities is understandable to a certain point but what about those in big metropolitan cities and still moving.

am currently working as a project structural engineer in London and feel like structural engineering is a dead end job. I have spoken with engineers with 10years+ of experience and their salary is just over 50k.

Do any of you guys in the construction industry or any other engineering industry have any advice? I'm considering either switching to machine learning engineering or becoming a project manager. My degree feels so useless.
