Have you ever left a company you’ve been with for 10+ years (a company you love) just because you feel like you are over 40 and should diversify to stay competitive?

No, and I never would. There’s enough change in our biz, you don’t need to go forcing it. If you are still learning and growing, and are still valued, don’t go looking for greener grass; it doesn’t exist. And if u love it there, I have to assume those conditions are being met.

No. In fact, once you get to 15 or 20 years you become too expensive to fire. Not kidding. I’ve had to choose this because finance says so

You may love the company, but do you feel like you've reached your potential? If not, and you can't get it there, then move. Easier said than done of course.

No. The end.

Agree

No I would not if I loved it. Diversify your skill set by studying or joining a relevant network

I know a lot of over 40's who were in that "oh shit" position six years ago when they were laid off as a result of a HUGE cash cow account being lost. Most of them didn't even have LinkedIn profiles, or had relatively updated resumes because they were at the agency 20+ years.

Does anyone have any good (free) resources for construction detailing. I’m trying to move up in my career but struggling due to lack of mentorship//training (staff shortage, everyone is busy) I’m rarely taken on construction sites, and if I am It’s because I pushed for it. I’m a woman and often feel like people are rooting for me to fail or “man splaining.” I’m in the process of getting licensed - just having a hard time getting the actual experience I need to feel competent.

I have worked in municipal government for almost 17 years. I love what I do as an Inspector, but the environment is toxic, and administration horrible. I have an opportunity to go into the private sector side, as well a second interview for another municipality doing same job. Private sector job will pay 35,000 more but will be 3 hrs away my husband is in law enforcement and can’t leave due to his position. Concerns are: private sector and when recession hits, it’s construction, away from hubby

I’ve been told my company is changing my title from Associate Director of BD to Sales Executive. I’m concerned it reads like a title demotion. Is it just semantics? How will this look for my career development? Curious about the standard perception of Sales Executive from a seniority perspective. Where does this land on the sales roles hierarchy? For context, it’s a professional services firm, I’ve been there 3+years, and they gave a Sales Executive title to someone who just started 5mo ago.

What would u do? 3 YOE HCOL city and I have 2 potential options:
1) move to a boutique healthcare strategy consulting firm in a similar role as I have now (client facing consulting role).. 120-130 base + 20% bonus
2) a product specialist role at Meta (FB). This told role product management, it’s analytics heavy. $107k base, 10% bonus, $30K stock.

At the end of the day, TC for both is similar. As far as exit opportunities I’m not sure what is better, so looking to get other people’s opinions.
