I definitely have. I will say though at the time I didn’t have children so money wasn’t as important. But I think culture/colleagues matters a lot.
Pro
True. When money isn’t the main priority, the people you work with and the overall culture really shape your day-to-day experience.
I stayed in a job because it was comfortable, and, to be honest, I was simply apprehensive about moving on. The environment I was in was pretty pleasant and I'd heard enough stories about toxic office environments to make me feel content where I was. I eventually did move on, but it took me quite a while to feel confident about doing it.

That makes total sense! Comfort and a good environment can be hard to walk away from, especially when you hear how bad it can be elsewhere. Glad you eventually made the move when it felt right for you!
After being in a truly toxic workplace, I’ll take less money every time over that. I spent 40+ hours a week walking on eggshells, and it does a number on your health.
I keep telling my spouse this. They’ve been stuck in a crappy job for the last 4 years because it’s high paying and they don’t think they can make more anywhere else. At the end of the day, I don’t think more pay is worth poor mental health.
I took an easier job for less pay
So far life has improved a lot
I worked a lot of higher stress toxic but pays well places before this so I have a savings that’s pretty well developed.
Idk my quality of life has increased and the happiness from that can’t be beat

That makes complete sense. Once you’ve built a safety net, prioritizing lower stress and a healthier environment can completely transform your quality of life. Money can’t buy that kind of day-to-day happiness and peace of mind.

Literally me right now. My salary isn’t great, but I’m living with my parents so it’s not the most important thing anyway. I have been through hell with jobs and finally found one that I feel so comfortable in and oh my is it so much more important than salary.
Pro
True! It’s amazing how much less stressful life feels when you actually like showing up to work, even if the paycheck isn’t huge.
